This food will go to help those that have been affected by the Bush fires that happened late last year/early this year and also to those that have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.Foodbank Australia&nbsp;provides food for 815,000 Australians each month and operates over all the states in Australia.&nbsp; [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="paragraph">A group of extraordinarily generous sisters in the Brisbane Church of Christ donated a substantial amount of non-perishable food items to a Brisbane based Foodbank on the 16th of March 2020. This food will go to help those that have been affected by the Bush fires that happened late last year/early this year and also to those that have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.<br /><br /><a href="https://www.foodbank.org.au/" target="_blank">Foodbank Australia</a>&nbsp;provides food for 815,000 Australians each month and operates over all the states in Australia.&nbsp;At least once a week, around half of the food insecure people skip a meal (55%) or cut down on the size of their meals to make their food go further (50%). At least once a week, three in ten food insecure Australians (30%) go a whole day without eating. This is why foodbanks like this are so important and need generous donations like the ones made recently. HOPE was one of many organisations present to meet with needs of the Homeless Community in Brisbane.</span></span><br /><br /><span><span>&#8203;From the HOPE booth food was distributed to the homeless and the needy and Participants filled out surveys asking them to identify needs such as clothing, food, community resources.<br /><br /></span></span><span><span>Subsequent follow-up by phone with Participants who had filled out forms was subsequently carried out and once their specific needs were identified, food, clothing and bedding supplies were delivered to them.</span></span><br /><br /></div>  <div class="paragraph"><strong>Letter of Support to an international student </strong>who has helped with HOPE activities in Brisbane &ndash; the student was considered for The Order of Australia Association Secondary Schools Citizenship Award. We have received confirmation that student is one of only twelve students in Queensland who received of this award. As such, she was invited to attend Parliament House to receive the award from the Queensland Governor.<br /><span></span></div>  <div class="paragraph"><strong>HOPE Brisbane Choir<br />&#8203;T</strong>he choir sang 2 sessions at a Retirement Home in Brisbane.
