The HOPE Community Centre in Kabul, Afghanistan, has over 150 students enrolled in Courses (Computers/English). Due to the unexpected change in Government the school was closed for much of 2021, however teaching staff continued to engage with students online. In 2022 the new Afghan government gave permission for the centre to restart courses and provide winterisation support to meet local needs. In 2024 mobile phone repair courses are planned. Any donations will be directed towards supporting course costs. Humanitarian needs are ongoing, so your donations are appreciated!
Background: HOPE worldwide Afghanistan was established in April 2001 with aim of serving women and children at a local health clinic in Kabul. Programs expanded to help hundreds of thousands of Afghans in the area of health, education, agriculture, vocational training, community development, and the distribution of food, clothing and medical supplies. Unfortunately due to worsening security programs were scaled down in 2011. Private donations allowed for the establishment of the HOPE Community Centre in Kabul which was opened in 2012
In 2023 the HOPE Community Centre provided Computer & English language courses for 180 youth, Supported 200 families through the winter (blankets, heating fuel), and 200 families who were victims of the earthquake in Herat. In 2024 courses are being expanded to include teaching mobile phone repair.
The centre was set up with the aim of bringing hope to Afghan youth through vocational training, specifically English language and IT skills. Afghanistan has ongoing civil conflict, food insecurity, natural disasters and over 823,000 youth unemployed. The need of the hour is to help Afghan youth with employment and provide the necessary skills which are lacking.
Youth have been travelling from different provinces to access the HOPE Community Centre in Kabul and all of the students are from low income backgrounds. The classes are free and to date 506 youth have directly benefited with over 70% of graduates finding employment.
HOPE worldwide Afghanistan, is looking for individuals and organisations to 'adopt' one or more students at the HOPE Community Centre. There is also a need for new furniture and equipment, which has been in place since 2012. Once all students have a sponsor, we would like to upgrade the centre.
A contribution of $300 can support a student in a course for 6 months. You can donate directly below through GiveNow. In 2020 we still need sponsors for most of our students as well as replacement of ageing equipment and furniture.
Thank you for giving Afghan youth HOPE! Below show some of the past achievements of HOPE worldwide Afghanistan.
