Donations of cooking utensils, clothing, Go-cards, Food gift vouchers, children's games, back packs and children's toys were delivered to the Inala Indigenous Health Service on several occasions during the 2020 calendar year.

A group of extraordinarily generous sisters in the Brisbane Church of Christ donated a substantial amount of non-perishable food items to a Brisbane based Foodbank on the 16th of March 2020. This food will go to help those that have been affected by the Bush fires that happened late last year/early this year and also to those that have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

Foodbank Australia provides food for 815,000 Australians each month and operates over all the states in Australia. At least once a week, around half of the food insecure people skip a meal (55%) or cut down on the size of their meals to make their food go further (50%). At least once a week, three in ten food insecure Australians (30%) go a whole day without eating. This is why foodbanks like this are so important and need generous donations like the ones made recently. Letter of Support to an international student who has helped with HOPE activities in Brisbane – the student was considered for The Order of Australia Association Secondary Schools Citizenship Award. We have received confirmation that student is one of only twelve students in Queensland who received of this award. As such, she was invited to attend Parliament House to receive the award from the Queensland Governor.

HOPE Brisbane Choir
​The choir sang 2 sessions at a Retirement Home in Brisbane. A highly complementary response was received from management of the nursing home based on enthusiastic feed back from residents.

HOPE Activities in 2017

A number of charitable organisations were assisted by donations of food, phone cards and
personal items. This was made possible by the generous support from members of the
Brisbane Christian Church and heartfelt thanks go out for such a magnificent response to the
call. The organisations to which assistance was given are:-

• Immigrant Womens Support Service
• Sisters Inside (assists women released from prison)
• Micah Projects (assists homeless people)
• Sakina (womens domestic violence refuge)
• Bahloo Womens Youth Centre
• Mary & Marthʼs Womens Refuge
• World Wellness Group (assists marginalised migrants & refugees)

Organisatons to which donations were given were profoundly grateful as expressed by the
letters of thanks and cards which have been received (see below).

HOPE was also registered during the year with Volunteering Queensland as an organisation
that can provide people to help in the event of natural disasters.

New Activities Being Planned for 2018

Further assistance is planned for organisations which assist victims of domestic violence, for
the homeless, migrants and refugees.

A new initiative is being planned for 2018 to provide Welcoming & Assistance to disciples who
relocate to the Brisbane Church from else where in Australia and more particularly, from
overseas.
