Rachel Beanland, Global Service Intern in Melbourne

Hi! My name is Rachel Beanland and I am from Melbourne. I am currently in my second year of study at RMIT University where I am majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I became a Christian in 2016 and then had the privilege to serve on a HOPE Volunteer Corps in Nepal later that year – it was an experience that drastically altered my perspective of God’s love, service and the world around me for the better. I am honoured to be part of the Global Service Intern program and I am excited to have the opportunity to serve and make God’s love known in this way. In being part of this program I hope to learn more about biblical service, as well as ways that we can continue to help our communities and foster a culture of generosity across the South Pacific Australia region.

Matt Suherlan, Global Service Intern in Melbourne

Hey there! I’m Matt Suherlan and I come from Jakarta, Indonesia and am currently studying chemical engineering at the University of Melbourne. I’m currently co-leading the city region of the Melbourne campus ministry alongside a couple awesome brothers and sisters and I’m honored to be a part of the Global Service Intern’s! 
 
I’m incredibly excited to be a part of a group that leads service trips and I hope to grow and be trained in my faith and convictions as well as use what I will learn to serve others better. As a Global Service Intern, I hope to deepen my understanding of Christ’s compassion and serving attitude so that I may boldly live out my life imitating him, and spreading the unconditional love he’s shown alongside the saving mission he has given to me. I hope to take on more opportunities to serve God in any location I can reach, starting with the local area God has placed me in; while creating and bringing more serving opportunities to those around me. I’m fired up to do all these for God alongside my good friends, Emman and Rachel.

Emman Salcedo, Global Service Intern in Sydney

Hi! I'm Emman Salcedo, studying finance and banking at the University of Sydney. I co-lead a bible group with Sara Hancell. I am very grateful to be a part of this Global Service Intern program.  
One aspiration I have is growing in my convictions for both service and the mission, and understand what it means to unconditionally love people, like Jesus. For me, I want to witness how service can be used to spread God's love and grow his kingdom in the South Pacific, and ultimately live out Micah 6:8...  "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God".
I am humbled by the fact that I can work alongside the likes of two incredible examples of Godly people like Rachel and Matt, and cannot wait to see what God can accomplish in this new chapter of my life!
